This was vitally important, as the HUSsie that I refer to above, posted a “field report” at the same time Ms. Walsh and I were engaged in the Hoinsky/Kickstarter debate; Ms. Walsh argued that “morality was absolute”. Stumbling upon the HUSsie in question’s “field report”, I then presented it to Ms. Walsh and asked if her maxim that “morality was absolute” also applied to one of her most regular commenters and if not, how and why.
That was one of, if not the, last comment I made at HUS before Ms. Walsh shut the entire forum down.
And in so doing, conceded that she lost the argument.
As UncalledFor has noted, Ms. Walsh not only is a poor debater, but her reasoning skills are at a seriously low ebb, and that is NOT a personal dig, but an observable fact, as my links above demonstrate. This is hugely important, in the light of her own self-appointed “mission” of assisting young people find relationships; if her reasoning skills are askew, it raises very real questions as to how helpful her arguments and evidence can be in the pursuit, especially over time.
In her own words, Ms. Walsh regards me as a tenacious debater, and in this she is right – I often will debate to test the veracity of my interlocutor’s reasoning per their arguments, over the course of hours or even days, either by presenting countervailing evidence, posing probing questions, or both in tandem. I have found, that employing this method is highly useful, as Great Ideas will stand the Test of Time, while not-so-great ones will fall – world history stands as a witness to this fact.
